About me

Professional headshot of Kevin Fich smiling, wearing a light-colored checkered shirt in a blurred office setting.

I'm Kevin Fich — a full-stack and mobile engineer based in New York. My background spans four years as a Software Engineer at Google, three founding-team roles at early-stage startups, and a track record of shipping products that real people use at scale. I went independent in 2025 to work directly with founders and small teams on the kind of problems I find most interesting.

At Google I worked on the Discover platform — the algorithmically personalized feed that surfaces content on Android and iOS devices worldwide. My biggest contribution there was leading the architecture and development of mobile ads on Google's mobile search surface, which drove a 14% increase in user engagement. Before that, as a founding engineer at Blockparty Tickets, I built a React Native ticketing app and web platform that collectively moved 200k+ tickets and $2M+ in revenue across major music festivals. And before that, I co-founded CleanSwipe — a campus laundry startup where I built the full API, iOS app, and Android app from scratch, winning the 2017 University of Miami Innovation Award in the process.

I work across the stack and into mobile. The projects I enjoy most sit at the intersection of good engineering and a clear business outcome — where architecture decisions have real stakes and shipping matters.

When I'm not building client work, I write original fiction (the novel The Emissarydoubles as the narrative universe for an iOS adventure game I built in Swift), produce music, tinker with robotics, and play recreational sports. I'm a native Spanish speaker, fluent in French, and occasionally lose arguments in both.

What I work on

Full-Stack Web

End-to-end web apps with Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. From API design to deployment.

Mobile

React Native for cross-platform, Swift for native iOS. Shipped apps from zero to App Store.

AI Integration

Practical AI features — search, assistants, data pipelines — using the Anthropic and OpenAI APIs.

Platform Engineering

Infrastructure, metrics, and the glue that makes large-scale systems observable and maintainable.
